The Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal, produced from 1983 to 1991, is a legendary distortion pedal. Used on countless records of the era, this classic pedal offers heaps of gain for heavier styles of music.

Often renowned for its distinctive "chainsaw" tone, the HM-2 was originally designed to emulate the mid-range response of a classic Marshall stack. However, the HM-2 gained prominence in the Swedish death metal scene, with bands like Entombed and Dismember adopting its unique sound. The pedal features controls for Distortion, Color Mix (High and Low EQ), and Level, allowing for versatile tonal shaping. In 2021, Boss reissued the HM-2 as part of their Waza Craft series, introducing the HM-2W, which offers both the original sound and a custom mode with enhanced tonal options.
